Who can Receive Services from ICEI

ICEI accepts referrals for students who are between the ages of 3 and 22 years and who have one or more of the following:

  • Serious problem behaviors that have not responded to behavior interventions or strategies
  • Behaviors/characteristics that indicate a need for an autism spectrum disorder evaluation
  • Complex social/emotional/developmental issues

Who can Request a Referral?

Referrals can be initiated by school districts, state/local agencies, and caregivers/parents.

What is the Referral Process?

Districts and schools can request a referral packet by calling 813-974-0968 or by emailing icei@usf. edu. If caregivers/parents call for a referral, they will be asked to sign a consent giving ICEI permission to contact their child’s school, explain ICEI services, and confirm that the school is willing to have ICEI collaborate with them. If the school agrees to collaborate, ICEI will ask the school to: (a) complete a referral packet; (b) have the caregiver/parent sign all authorization and consent forms; and (c) return the completed referral packet to ICEI. After receiving the completed referral and records, the ICEI team will review the information, and if the referral is appropriate for ICEI services, determine next steps.
